Impact of Sports In Our Daily Lives

A healthy nation is always a wealthy nation. Well these are not just words but words of wisdom, words of experience. Haven’t you heard that healthy mind is only in a healthy body? Yeah that’s right! Both Mental and Physical well-being are pre requisites to achieve great things in life. There goes a good proverb ‘All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy’. Well that is true. Do you want to be like a dull boy like Jack or be a boss and rule? Well you cannot do that unless you have a healthy mind that comes with a healthy body.

Games and sports are not only important for success in studio but it is important for success in every walk of our life. Sports can be of various kinds actually. Apart from school or college sports, young boys and girls should practice races, jumps, throws etc. and play football, cricket, hockey, volleyball, basketball, badminton etc. History shows that young men who excelled in the field in sports could prove their worth in the battlefield as valiant soldiers in later life and get the laurels of victory.

What is the Utility of Sports?

Sports actually have great utility that people often seem to ignore. Sports are the sources of recreation. They provide relief and a sense of relaxation in a monotonous life marked by miseries, hardships and hurdles. The most important thing that sports does is that it instills or infuses a sportive spirit to take up the heavy burden of life in a lighter vein and not to think of life either as a tragedy or a comedy but as the ordinary business of living.

Not to mention that Sports are essential to maintain health and physical fitness and it encourages the growth of team spirit. Not only that but it brings out the best in you in terms of diversity.

Among the outdoor games football, volley, cricket, basketball and tennis etc. are very popular all over the world. Table Tennis is also a very popular sport around the globe. It is always argued that sports should be made compulsory right from the primary classes and form a part of educational curriculum. So that children from the start must realize the utility of sports and games. Drills and other methods of physical fitness should be introduced from the beginning by well trained teachers and coaches.

Why Sports Should Be Emphasized?

The necessity of sports is felt to be so great in life that there is ample justification for them to be introduced in the schools compulsorily. Why they should be introduced at the lower level? Because Sports impart a sense of discipline, Fellow-feeling and togetherness and creates a team spirit eventually and it teaches the value of time and how it is important to note how a minute, a fraction of a minute and even a second decides the fate of a young sportsman in the field of competition.

With proper training and guidance in sports; students become active, energetic, daring, adventurous and capable of meeting the challenges in future life. Not only that but Sports and games are the right avenues to channelize the energy and vitality of students and make their leisure hours worthwhile. Another great educational value of sports is that it provides stimulation to study better and do smart work.

What should be done?

I have said enough. To wind it up I would like to say some parting words. It is not the sound and the fury that counts but effort in the right direction to make a mark. Keeping this in view, it is high time that we spot talents and promote them and provide all necessary facilities to train them properly so as to enable them or give them a chance to compete with other countries with no feelings of diffidence. How can this be done? There should be different sports grounds and sports facilities in Islamabad and all other cities so that people have lots of opportunities to practice and make an impact at the later stages.
